Mexican Luncheon Dish

Ingredients

• 1 lb groun round steak
• 1 green pepper, chopped
• 1 lge onion, chopped
• 2 T butter or margarinc
• 4 c. tomatoes
• 1 no. 2 can kidney beans
• 1 c. diced carrots
• 1 can mushrooms (optional)
• 1 cup rice ( uncooked)
• 1/4 c sugar
• Dash of chili powder
• Salt & pepper to taste
• 1 can sweet peas
• Garlic bread

Directions

• 1. Brown groun meat, green pepper and onion in butter or margarine.
• 2. Add tomatoes, kdney beans, carrots, mushrooms, rice, chili
• powder, sugar, salt, pepper to taste.
• 3. Cover and cook over HIGH heat for 6 minutes, or until steaming.
• 4 Turn switch to LOW or WARM and allow to cook for 20 - 25 minutes.
• 5. Serve with buttered peas, garlic bread, cole slaw; with jelly
• roll for dessert.
